Apple has instantiated a two step verification process for securing the iCloud, App Store and iTunes for the users of Apple ID.
In order to prevent the user accounts from being hacked up, Apple has included a security feature which consists of two steps of verification process. Now whenever a user wants to access his/her iCloud or App Store or iTunes, he/she has to go through the verification process twice on accounts of not letting any unauthorized access to be sanctioned.
Before two days Apple had panicked its users by removing the feature of forgot password called iforgot password page because of a security lapse in it. But it has restored the page as the problem has now been resolved.
What is this two step verification stuff? Well, as soon as the security system is activated, a four digit number will be sent to the user’s phone via a SMS. Along with this the user will be able to log in to his/her account with his/her ID and password as usually.
Whenever a user will access an Apple Service like downloading an app from App Store, help and support for forgotten password or any other this functionality will be enabled. “We take users’ privacy very seriously” said Apple, while introducing to the new security plan for the protection of the data.
With this two step authentication the chances of unauthorized access of any user’s account at My Apple ID or while buying something will be reduced remarkably. As far as the management of the user account is concerned, user will be able to access his/her account same as before.
Apple also informed that without password and verification code the access to the user’s account will be denied.
This new launch has revoked the option of the security questions required for recovering forgotten password. Instead Apple will send a recovery key for the forgotten password cases which would be needed to keep safely (don’t lose it).
Recently, Google and Dropbox have also added such functionality in order to protect the data of their cloud based users. This functionality is handy to limited countries currently and they are: US, UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. As soon as your country gets added, you will be able to find this functionality in your Manage My Apple ID page.
